Welcome to The Loon Gallery
For decades, Ruth Conklin Gallery has been a beloved part of Glen Arbor — a place where neighbors, summer visitors, and art lovers could discover the work of talented artists. Ruth filled it with care, and it became a little piece of what makes this town feel like home.
When Ruth decided it was time to enjoy a well-earned retirement, I felt incredibly lucky to have the chance to carry on what she built. Starting in May 2027, the gallery begins its next chapter as The Loon Gallery.
The same heart, a little refresh
The spirit of the gallery isn't changing. I'm simply giving things a fresh coat of paint, so to speak — and making it easier than ever to discover and shop our artists' work, whether you're stopping by on your way to the beach or browsing from home. Now you can shop online and have your favorite pieces shipped right to your door anywhere in the United States, or pick them up at the gallery.
What you'll find
The gallery is all about handmade, original art — work made by real people, inspired by everything from Northern Michigan's shorelines and seasons to faraway places, everyday moments, and pure imagination.
- Paintings — oils, watercolors, and acrylics in all kinds of styles and subjects
- Photography & prints — fine art photographs and prints worth framing
- Pottery & glass — handmade ceramics, glasswork, and sculpture
- Jewelry & gifts — jewelry, cards, and small handmade treasures that make perfect gifts or souvenirs
Supporting artists
Most of the work in the gallery comes from talented Michigan artists, along with a few special finds from makers farther afield. When you buy from The Loon Gallery, you're supporting independent artists and helping keep a creative community thriving here in Glen Arbor. Many pieces are one-of-a-kind, so if something speaks to you, don't wait too long!
Gallery hours
Monday – Saturday, 11am – 5pm
Early birds, take note: some mornings I'm up with the loons and the doors open at 10. Consider it a little bonus for the early risers!
